“It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:8
Have you ever ridden a roller coaster that tossed you around so much you wanted to get off? Your mind swirls (literally), your stomach feels unsettled, and you’re desperate to feel steady ground again. Life can feel like that sometimes, too—chaotic, unpredictable, and overwhelming enough to make us cry out to God, “Lord, I can’t handle this anymore! Let me off of this ride!”
Even though Moses never had the opportunity to ride a roller coaster, I imagine he felt this same sentiment at times. From a baby hidden in the reeds to a man exiled in the desert, Moses’ life hardly looked like the beginning of Israel’s great exodus story. And yet, God’s sovereignty was steady in every step. Every twist and turn—Pharaoh’s palace, Midian’s wilderness, the burning bush, years of navigating the desert—was all part of God’s bigger picture that Moses couldn’t see at the time.
God led the way for Moses and the Israelites, and although the terrain was challenging, He was with them every step of the way. He promises the same to us. Even when life feels like it’s spinning out of control, God never loses His grip on His plans for us.
Friend, if you’re like me and you’ve felt more than ready to take a break from life’s recent twists and turns, I encourage you to remember God’s sovereignty. He is stable when everything around us is not. Declare this truth over your life today, and remember, even when we don’t know what’s ahead, we can trust the One who does.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your holiness, Your presence, and Your good plans for our lives. Thank You for never leaving us or forsaking us. We declare our dependence upon You today as we rest in knowing Your sovereign hand is in control. We love You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
