“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” Colossians 3:1–2
Every direction we turn, chaos seems to compete for our attention. Headlines rage. Social media floods our minds with outrage, fear, confusion, and endless opinions. It becomes easy to live emotionally tossed around by every notification and breaking story. Yet Scripture reminds believers where to fix our gaze.
Jesus is seated at the right hand of God. He is not anxious, panicked, scrambling, or reacting to the chaos of the world. He reigns in complete authority and perfect peace. And because, as believers, we belong to Him, we are invited to live from that same heavenly perspective rather than from earthly turmoil.
We were never created to carry the weight of every tragic event, political argument, and frightening prediction delivered instantly to us throughout the day. The enemy would love to use constant noise to keep our minds unsettled and distracted. But what if every alarming headline became a reminder to look up instead of spiral downward? What if the moment anxiety starts rising, we close the app, put down the phone, open Scripture, and turn our attention back to Jesus?
Removing negativity alone is not enough. We must replace it with truth. If we put down our phones, let us pick up our Bibles. If we delete an app, let us fill that space with worship, prayer, or godly encouragement. Philippians 4:8 reminds us to dwell on whatever is true, honorable, pure, lovely, and commendable. Peace grows where truth is planted.
When we lift our eyes above political division, cultural fear, and endless noise, we gain heaven’s perspective. Christ anchors us in truth while the world spins in confusion. The One seated on the throne still speaks peace over chaos. Fix your eyes on Him and live from His vantage point.
Prayer: Jesus, when fear, confusion, and chaos compete for my attention, help me lift my eyes to You. Anchor my thoughts in truth and train my heart to respond with peace instead of panic. Give me discernment about what I allow into my mind and wisdom to replace fear with Your presence and Your Word. In Your name I pray, Amen.
