“The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.” Deuteronomy 29:29
How many times have you said, “I can’t wait to ask God about that when I see Him”? So often we run into questions there just aren’t answers for.
Maybe our intolerance for mystery runs deeper than that of previous generations because we’re accustomed to having our every query answered instantly by the internet. Or maybe it’s an area of vexation that has plagued humanity long before the dawn of Google, encyclopedias, and almanacs.
Perhaps instead of being frustrated at what God has not revealed to us, we can be grateful our magnificent Creator has shared so much of who He is, who He made us to be, and His will for our lives. The Bible is rich with special revelations—the direct, supernatural way God broadcasts His truth to us. And He shared His words for a reason—for us to act on them. Instead of letting the unknown paralyze us, let’s focus more of our energy toward obeying His commands (Deut. 5:33), bearing good fruit (Col. 1:10), and loving others well (John 13:34).
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me the gift of Your Word. Rather than getting frustrated and discouraged about the secret things You’ve kept hidden according to Your will, please help me focus on the abundance of truth I find in Scripture. I pray I would meditate on Your truth and then act with joyful obedience. Amen.
